Tori, the beautiful inspiration and muse for “Quiet Silence” has been in my painting queue since April. Tori’s reference image was featured in the April 2020 #30Faces30Days Sketchy challenge. I waited a few months to paint her, because I knew the painting would be a difficult task to capture the beautiful, yet “Quiet Silence” in Tori’s image.
Tori holds some kind of yellow flower in her inspiration photo, but I knew the yellow flower did not hold as much power and impact as a single red rose. I believe painting Tori with a red rose helped me with the psychology of the painting. While painting I could feel her quiet silence, which for me, is the true subject of the painting.
As always, I hope you enjoy “Quiet Silence” as much as I enjoyed making it.
Following is a 22-second video of “The Making of Quiet Silence.”
